Random acts of mail

My sister hands me an envelope with anxious trepidation, reading off the return address as she does so, “Global Zoe Industries.  The World, Our Solar System. Pour Zoe.”

Excited and even a bit scared I open it.

No white powder explodes in my face. Instead an attractive and apparently reused piece of fancy green monotone paper appears.

I unfold the paper and a message is revealed on the blank white side.

How awesome is that?
Thank you. Whoever you are.

I love you too.

Full text of message:

if today has been the greatest day,
I hope it changes, never.
& I hope this note finds and suits you well
and makes your day a little better.

Although this dead ‘leaf’ cannot see you or me,
there really is no mystery

why it is I made the effort to tame some words
to show you love and a sense of community.
