Investments are items that have some potential return (directly or in the form of "paying it forward". Donations are contributions to personal items in my life preventing me from moving forward in one way or another.

Of course you would be contributing to these goals by hiring me for any of the services I offer or bartering with me. Contact me if you have another idea how we could work together.

You can now invest in my personal creative and activist projects. Some of these projects are intended to contribute to a better world and some are just for personal enrichment but may someday return a profit.

NOVEL: The Chinese Herbalist
This is a project that has meant a lot to me that I hope to pursue in ernest again soon. My goal is to find a way to take a year, maybe two, and somehow devote all my energies to completing it. I will visit and live in the locations in the novel. Your investment will go towards covering the living expenses of this sabbatical and/or towards the purchase of an RV to at least begin traveling to the locations in North and South America. Invest in this goal and if the novel is published you will receive a percentage and be thanked on the dedication page.

EcoWarden: Website, web apps, promotions
I recently met up with Dan the EcoWarden. He is a highly motivated individual out to promote sustainable living and environmental/social cleanup. I am still learning the full scope of his mission, but in short for now, in his daily travels when he sees a polluted or junked up job site, home, or commercial space he offers to do the clean up for free. He then takes all the pollutants (chemicals/petroleum) and so called junk and either recycles it or keeps the items he deems reusable then makes it available at low cost and as a donation to folks who really need it. Whereever possible he goes back to commercial sites and shows them how much money he made ’saving the environment’ and typically the next time he goes by their way he is pleased to discover that he got them to do the right thing (even if he had to trick them into for cash). Beyond this goal, the EcoWarden hopes to eventually create sustainable communities where folks who are down on their luck or sick of the system can find a home. I would like to help build a web presence and web based applications to help him accomplish these goals. Any investment in this project will go directly towards paying for graphic design, web development, and hardware and technology directly needed to build/promote/operate the EcoWarden. Your return on investment in the EcoWarden project is paid forward to those in need being helped by the EcoWarden project. Hopefully a web presence will be forthcoming shortly to share all this in detail.

TimeBank: Web app and San Diego location
You will find many mentions on my site about barter. Time banking is a simple system folks use to exchange time literally. Every hour worked is an even exchange for an hour of work from anyone else in the time banking community. There is no time bank in San Diego that I am aware of, especially not in North County. For obvious reasons this system works best in localized environment. I intend to start a time bank and develop a custom web app to manage it. This software will be the prototype for a free web based time banking app that anyone can use to start their own time bank. Return on investment is paid forward to the people who will participate in the time bank and the people who will start their own time bank utilizing the software created. While the time bank is listed on this page, I am only seeking volunteers and participants.

While I would prefer to have regular work that paid sufficiently to cover my needs, lack of health care, an unstable economy, and other unexpected life events have put me behind the 8-ball as it were. Scooter/Car
I am currently without a vehicle after I was hit on the freeway and now their insurance is not accepting liability (long story, ask if interested). Public transit and biking is working out for now with the light rail so close to our house. But a lack of transportation is hurting my ability to conduct business. I mostly need a car, but since my long term goals include acquiring an RV and beginning an extended sabbatical for personal/spiritual/creative purposes getting a scooter seems like a better long term investment. However it could still be many months before I am financially prepared to begin traveling and it is cheaper to buy an old car than any age of scooter. That said, if I could get the funds to acquire a quality scooter before we get an old car that may or may not last very long I will purchase the scooter first.

RV (Motorhome)
In the coming months I intend to hit the road. No particular destination. Living in Southern California exclusively isn’t working out for me. I need a Jack Kerouac experience but I need to be able to live and work in a moderately reliable fashion in order to do this sustainably. My goal is to have a travling live work home/vehicle that I will wander to various locations through the North and South America and live for months at a time in each major stop. I do not require anything fancy, but a reliable engine/transmission is a must as I am not so handy as a mechanic. I require at least permanent bed, a shower/bathroom, and a floor plan that faciliates building in an office/computer/desk setup and a small space for relaxing/visiting without having to foldup the bed or otherwise perform herculean transormer actions just to switch activities or sleep. Any size or configuration is open to consideration that could meet my needs. Ultimately I hope to have a lovely outdoor "patio" setup that will make up for whatever space is missing inside when I am "camped" but require a workable interior configuration while roaming. Note that investing in my novel/sabbatical coincides with acquiring the RV.
