Occupy Together: My “demands”

  1. Revoke the rights of personhood from corporations
  2. Create legislation holding executive officers and board members accountable for criminal and collateral damage resulting from business operations
  3. Implement a maximum - minimum wage ratio: The lowest wage being some percentage of the highest within any given company.

First official statement from NYC Occupy Wall Street General Assembly

As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known. | read on »

Occupy Wall Street? Occupy San Diego? Occupy Corruption?

I hold our way of life and the government that theoretically binds it together and gives it meaning and structure to a higher standard. I join the voices of the occupation. I may not be on the ground for the entire occupation but I go today to find like minds and hear what other people think, to listen and share. I hope that the people can learn to accept the responsibility of liberty and understand that for every one to find success does not mean someone else has to suffer. A good life is not about being on top. And I am afraid it is time to knock down those people who think they are at the top of the heap. Because that heap is blocking my view of a beautiful world. | read on »

Halloween Open Mic

e.g. Theatre is hosting its very first Halloween-inspired Open Mic & Potluck! This delectable fun means breaking out the fog machine, snazzy costumes, and encouraging and INVITING ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS-- especially those who love to dress up, chat up, eat up, & drink up. Engage North County's creativity in the arts and localize an otherwise sporadic artistic scene in a familiar environment. Come perform your music, spoken word, theatrical productions, or opera. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY ART DEALING IN THE MACABRE OR IN THE PLAIN AWESOME, please bring it by. But we would be happy to see and share any of your traditional art as well. To top it off, we are slated to show HORROR/HALLOWEEN FILMS of the classic variety at approximately TEN O'CLOCK. Maybe we'll show one, maybe two. All I know is there will be FRESH POPCORN. We'll even let you pop it if you're eager. | read on »
backwardscompatibility

Backwards compatibility in web development is silly!

Fed up with ten year old draft specs and DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME warnings from other web professionals I make a perhaps infallible argument for why you should be using all the latest browser technologies (and every browser version older than a month and the people who use them can go to hell). | read on »
css3-no-vendor-specific-prefixes

No more CSS3 browser vendor specific prefixes (please)

As of today all the major browsers (mostly) support the pure straight css3 declarations for the following css3 features. And because I have gone a little bit out of my way to make my current site completely html5 without any unnecessary (or annoying) javascript hacks or unpleasant backwards compatibility concerns I have elected to forego all browser vendor prefixes for these "experimental" features. | read on »

Better World Tour: A first attempt: CaRV Two Weeks (and a life) in Review

REVISED 2012-01-04 The intention of this post has varied several times since I first decided to take some rough notes and put them online. Initially this post was intended to serve as a marker for anyone reading the blog to let them know when my traveling had ended and “everyday living” had started again. The reasoning for cutting this first caRV trip short however, were myriad and some part of me desperately wished to find a way to share that meaningfully in a public environment that would give others an insight into the workings of my mind and perhaps bring[...] | read on »

I can’t go on. I’ll go on. Some more.

In many ways I often feel like a disembodied Samuel Beckett character. As such I reuse the "I can't go on" motiff and title for this post marking the chronological beginning of yet another phase in my life and the relaunch of beingzoe.com. | read on »
