some background:

Several years ago we built a theater in our garage, dubbed it the e.g. theater (experimental garage) and
performed the original play “What?“.

Fast forward to a few months ago. My sister says to me, “We should have open mic at the house.” So we did, and in
my mind reviving the spirit of the e.g. theater and all of these crazy projects and craft nights that used to be
so common here. A few days ago our friend Russ asked if we could have a concert here. So we are.

Halloween Open Mic

e.g. Theatre is hosting its very first Halloween-inspired Open Mic & Potluck! This delectable fun means breaking out the fog machine, snazzy costumes, and encouraging and INVITING ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS-- especially those who love to dress up, chat up, eat up, & drink up. Engage North County's creativity in the arts and localize an otherwise sporadic artistic scene in a familiar environment. Come perform your music, spoken word, theatrical productions, or opera. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY ART DEALING IN THE MACABRE OR IN THE PLAIN AWESOME, please bring it by. But we would be happy to see and share any of your traditional art as well. To top it off, we are slated to show HORROR/HALLOWEEN FILMS of the classic variety at approximately TEN O'CLOCK. Maybe we'll show one, maybe two. All I know is there will be FRESH POPCORN. We'll even let you pop it if you're eager. | read on »

Open mic: the first (the food)

See the following post for some pics of the open mic itself. This post is devoted to some of the food that open mic brought with it. We weren’t sure what was going to happen with open mic and we didn’t really tell many people until the last minute. But I had put up a page under projects on my website and in the description I listed that the house will serve lentils. As promised there they are half eaten. On the right is a basic lentil pot seasoned up just slightly for the less adventurous. The pot on left[...] | read on »

Open mic at e.g. theater (aka our house) Sept. 10

My sister has been going to a lot of open mic, mostly at the E street cafe in Encinitas. Her and I checked out the Hill Street Coffee House open mic in Oceanside a while back. And my friend Russ played an open mic at the Metaphor Cafe in Escondido a couple of weekends back. Well we’ve decided to bring open mic to our house (aka e.g. theater). More details to come, but since Russ is playing a full show at the Metaphor Cafe in Escondido and he said he would be performing at our open mic, I thought there[...] | read on »
