Politics of Food
Inspired by sister I have come to have a fascination and disgust for the politics of food. Thanks to people like Jamie Oliver and the Food Revolution I have seen how disconnected we are from where our food comes from and the impact it has on our lives. Because of companies like Monsanto and people’s lives ruined by them I have been introduced to just how sinister and/or careless (at the least greedy) humans can become.
When I listen to my sister speak about food especially after she has come out of the garden I am deeply inspired by the beauty of life and the role food plays in it. Because of her garden I have an appreciation of food I would never have understood before.
My goal here is not to build some massive compendium of food politics. There are plenty of people doing a great job of that. Instead I hope only to introduce some major topics I think more people should know about and hopefully discover new ways we can each get involved in some small way that makes a better world…through food.
